Dentistry has been a very satisfying profession for me. I love the artistic and creative side of what I do, but it is the relationships that I have made with my patients that have meant the most to me. I’ve gotten the chance over these many years to develop friendships with so many people based on trust and mutual respect. Helping patients live a life free of pain, improving their aesthetics and increasing their confidence, and giving our youngest patients an excellent first dental experience is all very rewarding.
Education and Continuing Education
I attended Seattle Pacific University where I graduated in 1971 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. I continued on to the University of Washington where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1975.
During the past 37 years, a lot has changed in the field of dentistry. Techniques have been created and products have been developed to improve patients’ results and increase their comfort. I have been involved in many study clubs with an emphasis on aesthetics, crowns, and complex dental restoration. I also have extensive training in CEREC® single-visit crown technology, allowing my patients to have a permanent crown placed in just one office visit.
Family and Community
I am originally from San Jose, California, and have spent the past 37 years practicing dentistry and raising my family in the Bellingham area. My wife, Patty, and I have been blessed with two sons, two daughters, two sons-in-law, three grandsons, and one granddaughter. I also have my English setter and bird-hunting companion, Jetta.
I’m passionate about my grandchildren and getting to spend time with them and teaching them to enjoy nature. I love the Winthrop area and spending time at our cabin, which always has fun projects to keep me busy. I especially love fly fishing and floating the Methow River in my home-made drift boat. My annual pheasant hunting and fly fishing outing to Choteau Montana with several of my best friends is a highlight of my year. I also love deep-powder skiing in the Canadian Rockies.
Obviously, the environment is a large concern for me. I’m involved in our local fly fishing club and the Methow Conservation Association, both of which provide me with opportunities to help improve and preserve our natural habitat.
